CHARACTERISTICS:
rnThe project consisted of the Reactivation, Systematization, and Sanitation of the Durán Stream to improve its hydraulic capacity. The main components included channel cleaning, reconditioning and modification of the hydraulic section related to surface water runoff; creation of an Expansion and Retention Zone to attenuate peak stormwater flows from the northwest basin of Neuquén City; construction of new bridges at main street crossings; design of the streambed, pedestrian walkways, slope rectification to improve and integrate the stream’s operation with urban and forest landscaping; modification of the discharge structure with new gates at the siphon in front of Island 132; various civil works, and the construction of a new intake upstream on the Limay River to divert controlled flows into Durán Stream in order to improve water quality and landscape development throughout the basin.
